Service Description

This course will introduce students to Ladino (Judeo-Spanish, Judezmo or Spanyolit), the language of the Eastern (Mediterranean) Sephardic Jews, which is still spoken nowadays, mainly in Israel and Turkey. Students will acquire basic knowledge of the grammar, syntax and lexicon of the language through reading (both in Hebrew and Latin scripts) and listening to selections from the rich culture of Eastern Sephardic Jews across the Mediterranean diaspora and beyond. A $50 deposit is required, which will be returned only upon completing at least 12 of the 14 hours of this summer school. Please do not forget to answer the questions asked within the booking form, without which your application will be considered incomplete. The instructor also reserves the right to reject your booking based on these answers, which he might do within a period of 48 hours. In that case, your deposit will be returned in full.
